Sand Trap Dredging History

Per the Jupiter Inlet District's Inlet Management Plan and state mandate, the District removes an average of 60,000 cubic yards of sand from the inlet's sand trap and navigation channels annually.

The sand trap is a 10,000 square foot submerged depression that collects sand naturally migrating into the inlet system and is located approximately 1,000 feet West of the inlet's mouth.  Dredged sand is then pumped to the beaches South of the inlet to counter beach erosion.
